We built the school we wished existed.
How We Started
Amy Utsman was walking from one room to another, thinking about nothing in particular, when she clearly heard one of her guides say:
There. Will. Be. A. School.
She stopped short. “Uh, no,” she said out loud. Then, for emphasis: “No. There. Won’t. Be. A. School.”
Silence.
But the message — and the guides — didn’t let up.
Over the next two years, Amy and Nancy kept circling the same questions: Is it possible to be intuitive and well-grounded? What role does structure play in mediumship training? How do you build healthy boundaries, ethics, and professionalism into intuitive development — for the practitioner’s own well-being, and in service of Spirit?
The answers took shape as a school. In 2019, Amy and Nancy co-founded Whole Medium Academy.

Our Mission
Whole Medium Academy’s mission, first and foremost, is to elevate the field of mediumship. We do this by training evidential mediums who are ethical, competent, and grounded with healthy boundaries and emotional balance.
What happens along the way, at the individual level, is spiritual expansion, personal growth, connection within a community, and a desire to be of service.
What Makes WMA Different

Every class is live, and all practice is supervised.
You’re in the room, in real time, with seasoned instructors who use their own psychic abilities to “see” and explain what’s actually happening for you in your connections.
Healing is part of the method.
Safety, structure, and psychological support are key for building confidence. Our instructors are experienced in handling sensitive reading situations — so no harm is done — as well as helping with blocks of self-doubt and self-criticism.
It’s safe to get it wrong.
Going blank, losing your link, having no one claim your spirit communicator — all of it is considered normal learning here, and all of it is supported. In fact, the more challenging moments offer the richest learning.
You’re known — and in community.
Our instructors get to know you, not just as one of many. Whether you take a single class or complete the full beginner-to-professional curriculum, we delight in your journey — and you become part of a WMA community where relationships often outlast the classes themselves.
Our Values
We try to live these in everything we do — how the school runs, what’s in the curriculum, and the vibe in every class:
- Compassion
- Ethics and professionalism
- Healthy boundaries
- Being in service of Spirit
- Fun and humor
What started as Amy’s argument with her guides is now a full-blown curriculum of structured classes, a multidisciplinary faculty, and a vibrant community of students and graduates.
Come see what that looks like.
