Psychologist | Author | Trauma Specialist
The “critical voice” — that inner judgy voice in our heads —creates blocks in mediumship, just as it does in life.
About Dr. Karjala
Dr. Lynn Karjala is a Harvard-educated author and licensed psychologist specializing in the treatment of trauma in all its forms. She’s brought her expertise, wisdom — and the concept of the “critical voice” — to Whole Medium Academy since 2023.
As she conceives of it, the critical voice is a near-universal inner protective “part” that serves to protect us — but in fact hinders our growth and development.
While not a medium, she has always had keen intuition. She collaborates with WMA instructor Nancy Scheel to teach developing mediums how the critical voice can impede their connections and create blocks. Dr. Karjala’s contributions help students gain the self-confidence to use their mediumship talents and skills — thus supporting WMA’s mission to develop the whole medium.
More broadly, through her 30+ years of work in the field, Dr. Karjala has empowered thousands of clients, readers and fellow clinicians through treatment, training, authorship and psychoeducation.
Dr. Karjala held the office of President of the Association for Energy Psychology (ACEP) and served on its board of directors for 13 years. She headed ACEP’s training and certification committee for the Comprehensive Energy Psychology clinician training program, and she was instrumental in program development and delivery. Numerous clinicians have mentored under her to obtain their certification.
“Everyday” traumas — like being scoffed at — create blocks to accessing our abilities. But each block can be identified and healed to help us reach our full potential.”
